My new PapaSmurf open-bottom bug net just arrived!

Now for the review...

I've been interested in some of Randy's DIY stuff. I specifically liked his open-bottom bug net. After a few PMs, he took his original idea and tweaked it a bit by adding a zipper to one end. Makes it SUPER easy to install/remove/adjust.

The net fits my Trek Light Gear double hammock perfectly! It extends down past the sides, is lightweight, and provides plenty of coverage from the things that like to bite.

Getting in and out is as simple as lifting the net out of the way and slipping out of the hammock normally.

For those who want lightweight/minimalist gear...this is the ticket!
You can see I have a WBBB suspension system on my TLG hammock. Trade those out for whoopies, add this bug net, and you've got yourself a weight weenie system!

You can see that it packs down to a small mosquito net bag. The whole thing weighs next to nothing and takes up very little space. I put my iPhone next to it in the pictures above to give it some scale.

I got mine the other day too and was like WoW! This is so small, light and simple!! Papa Smurf does first rate work! You can't get any more lighter and practical than his bug sock set up!

Looks great! My only concern is with the open bottom. The skeeters around here might eat my behind alive. I use a single layer, and if temps are right, no UQ. I was trying to think of a way to keep full netting around the hammock, but still have it that easy to get out of. That would work great with a light summer UQ or poncho liner.

Mine is not an open bottom, but a sock. I'm fully covered. :-)

No worries for me with it being an open bottom bug net. I typically use an HH Supershelter undercover with my TLD hammock. I should have taken pictures with it installed but I wanted to showcase the net.
