    Howdy from west-central Texas

Greetings from a ground dweller looking to shift to hanging.

Feels great to be part of a site with such a wealth of knowledge. I've already soaked in more information than I can retain. Guess I'll just have to read it all again a time or two

I've already invested in a WBBB 1.1 double and a Superfly. I've also got a Grand Trunk Ultralight for goofing around with on shorter hikes. Purchased 150' feet of amsteel blue from Redden, so looking forward to some diy!

I've got a few more things to research before I buy, but I think I've made some great progress so far.

I'm probably not too far from you, in Big Spring . . .

Welcome to the trees! The Texas hanging crowd is continuing to grow, now if we could find a few more trees...

Research, ask questions, go to group hangs when you can, mostly have fun.

see, the problem with Texas is it is tilted... and trees grow best at lower elevations; so SE TX has way more trees than N/W TX...

Welcome from NJ. Great gear you've got and yes, read it all again a time or two. Or three or four. It's all good.

Hopefully I can find a few hangers close enough to me to get some good ideas of nice places to hike and camp.

I like the forests over in East Texas, but man that's a long way from me. Stupid big states

You're not very far away. I'm down in San Angelo. Where's your favorite place to hike and camp around the area?
