Hello from the base of the Adirondaks

I come from a long line of family members who have always enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, etc.

While heading out in the wilderness always seemed to involve a truck or two and piling supplies into a boat to go to the other side of the lake I got interested in lightening the load a bit as i got older.

I found it was fun to do more with less, but not having a cot really bothered me i don't sleep well on the ground. I think this came on with age cuz it didn't bother me when i was younger or in the Marine Corps.

All i can say is God bless all the people who put their time and effort into making hammocking an enjoyable pastime.

    Welcome to the forum.

I do a lot of backpacking and paddling in the Adirondacks. There are quite a few others here who also spend considerable time there.

Welcome! I grew up camping and canoeing there. Those trails up Marcy and Algonquin were over-used ruts in the '60s; I wonder what they look like now.

Welcome to HF, I live and camp in the Adirondacks!

There are a bunch of us from HF and ZS that have been camping every month for the last 3 years.

Welcome to HF, from Alabama. I don't like sleeping on the ground either since I discovered hammocking.
