Doubling Up JRB Quilts

I was thinking of doubling up both my Nest and NS as underquilts. Does it matter which one goes on first if I am using a netless hammock? (Lining up the velcro on the Nest wouldn't be an issue then)

Do I hook both quilts onto the same suspension clips?

I may be dealing with temps in the teens, so I want to make sure I get this right!

I think you want to give the inner quilt some space to loft. What I do is at each corner take the minibiner from the inner quilt, thread it through the minibiner from the outer quilt so that the outer quilt's suspension point is about 3 inches lower than the inner quilt's. The inner quilt's minibiner is the one that is used to suspend the paired up quilts.

Given this technique I'd make the heavier quilt the inner quilt.

No, it doesn't matter which one you put on first. They're both essentialy the same quilt in demisions and loft. You can (and probablly should) clip both quilts into the same suspension system, although when you do you want to make the ss a little more loose than you normally would if you were only hanging with one underquilt as not to crush the down of the any quilt. You might whant to try it out at home if you can. happy trails and as always YMMV.

I double up on my JRB quilts in cold weather, no problem. They both attach to the same suspension system. When you set up you hammock put on the the first quilt and cinch the end normally (about 15" according to Pan) and when you install the second quilt be sure to leave the ends wider than the quilt underneath it. This will keep the outer quilt from squeezing the insulation on the quilt closest to the hammock.

i have been to 8.6 degrees with a 5 buck army pad,i just doubled my pad.here is a picture,i should easily go -10 with this pad now neo

From a cost perspective it surely is. From a weight perspective it might be. From a "compress and get inside the pack so that you can board the plane with the pack as a carry-on" (my admittedly idiosyncratic but for me very real issue) it isn't. Next summer I'll be using a double-bodied hammock, likely with a pad.

There's something I get from an under-quilt that I've never had from a CCF pad---a sense of WARM coming back at me. The trapped air in a quilt warms up and radiates the heat back. The pad gives me NOT COLD. Which is a good thing, to be sure. But in my experience, different.
