I'm a diurnal critter...when it gets dark, I go to roost.
'course, I wake up pretty early, but that works out just fine...a couple of hours with just my fire and coffee is a fine way to greet the day.

What to do when the light fades in a hammock different than a tent...Hmmm.
Well in a tent I am very busy; rolling down the slope I didn't notice, unpitching part of it to find that 1 rock or root I seemed to always miss, rolling a kid back over onto their side, trying to find a comfortable sitting position to read, getting UP to take a 'whee' then tripping over stakes / climbing back over the kids who moved again
The problem with my hammock (as my son tells me) is I fall asleep too fast for us to have a meaningful conversation and that darn sun moves from the west to the east much faster. The other issue we have with hammocks is my kids (9 & 12) no longer need me to set up the tent in the dark; they can set up camp so fast they lounge around and find great entertainment in watching others cuss at pitching heavy/complex tents while their kids point the flashlights in their eyes. It makes me feel like I'm missing out on something.
This is meant in good humor, however every bit is true for us.
Well a lazer pointer is much more fun from a hammock (pull back the Skeeter net) than in a tent (shudder). DAMHIKWhat To Do When Darkness Comes. Hammocks vs Tents
I eat Skittles and watch a movie on the iPod. Or read. Yeeha.
when I'm out in my hammock in nature i want to enjoy nature, no mp3 or other distraction for me
i enjoy listening to nature and tending to my fire, also i live in the Netherlands so i can do things that r illegal in the us that will help spent some time
i cant see why anyone would go back to a tent to spent some time
because he feels enclosed in a hammock
imho the world upside down
When the sun goes down, it's time to watch the fire or the stars.
Maybe read a Psalm or two.
I can't imagine listening to an iPod or watching a movie or TV show at night in the woods! That's a side of life I go to the woods to escape, not bring with me!
