Ridgeline: what cord to use, how long to make it? (in one of Shugs videos he says his RL is 11' which seems short). I think I like the one line system and may go in that direction. How do you support your tarp if it is under the RL?
Webbing: will rain not flow down webbing easier than say a whoopie sling?
Paracord: I think I'm going to use this for my tie outs
Thoughts anyone, good or bad!!
By the way, when I got the delivery box I thought I had someone else's package. Couldn't believe how small it was for a hammock and tarp!!!

Scott, Is the ridgeline for your tarp? If so, it is going to be longer than 11', more in the 20-25' range (maybe longer) depending on the span and size of the trees you hang between. I htink you may have mistaken Shug's length for the ridgeline on his hammock, but would have to go back and check his vids/threads. When hanging the tarp under the ridgeline, most folks use a combination of prussiks and carabiners or softshackles in order to adjust the tarp tension. Not sure on the speed of rain on webbing vs. whoopies. Just tie a drip cord to either and i'm sure you'll stay dry. I have used paracord for ridges and tie outs, but recommend using some version of nylon due to weight, strength, and reduced stretch.

The RL I'm refering to is for my tarp. And you are right about Shug, I probably misheard the comment about length but I am going back to review the instant replay.

I really like the one line system that whoopie slings sells. I have it on a couple of my tarps.

As far a para for the tie outs. It will work but prefer to use something that has a reflector in the line for night time. I have Kelty Tripteaze on one tarp and Nite Ize line on another.

For tarp tie outs i ended up getting no tangle line from Speer. I don't think kelty trip tease is readily available in Canada but canadian tire had some kind of no stretch reflective line in their camping section.
+1 on the RL from whoopie slings. You could also order utility line from Arrowhead and get small figure nines and knot bones from valhalla pure if there's one in edmonton. Use the utility line for RL and tie outs. Paracord will work till you want something else.

I like the idea of a single ridgeline underneath. I'm thinking about utilizing a single ridgeline and then adding prussuk knots to the rings to tighten once the tarp is up and in place. Almost like how a HH tarp attaches to the main suspension lines.

of course, I'll have to get it and see, but this is what I'm thinking right now.

+2 on RL from whoopiesling.com. Save yourself the hassle, time and frustration. They have this thing dialed. Heck buy some tarp tie-outs if your already placing an order. Para cord wouldn't be my top choice but if you already have it use it and upgrade later.
