Arrow OK, I really did it this time!

I'm baaaack. Ok, I know I joined some time ago, with great aspirations and good intents. I had totally decided to get the Hennessey...but alas, I never could make up my mind. But NOW...

it is done. After many moons of research, I have ordered the Warbonnet Blackbird, and expect it very soon. What changed my mind? Truthfully, I am a Harley-Davidson type of guy. And though the Kawasakis are nice...they just aren't Harleys. And I would have never been satisfied with anything but the Blackbird, either. Did I pay for the name. Sure! And the quality, strength, and features that come standard with this hammock. Did Shug have anything to do with it? "I reckon so", (in my best Karl Childers voice).

And I even ordered myself a HF flag from Barbara! Dat's right! A black one. I had Brandon throw in some carabiners and the bad mahambajamba tarp, and some of that fancy yellow cordage.

Now, I realize I haven't actually hung yet. So I guess I'm a hanging virgin. So, when do I get to be a "Hanger?" When I get it? After I sleep in it? One night? One season? Do I have to christen the hammock? Is there some strange and funky ritual I must accomplish on my new journey? Boy, I HOPE SO!

I am still shopping for an under-quilt. If yall have any suggestions of other equipment I will need, please feel free to advise me. I'm kinda a technology junkie. I'm super glad to be back among you friendly sorts, away up in the piney wooooods. And where-ever else ya hale from. And even you mean old crotchity ones too. I have much to learn, and I'm as eager as you could expect a 51 year old virgin to be. WhoooHoooo.

I had a Vulcan at one time. I had a 1000 ltd too. That was back when speed was more important to me, than looks, style, and reputation.

In all honesty, I did lean my decision towards the Blackbird because of the name, and the reviews it got. AND, I kept having visions of waking up with someones ugly menacing head poking through the bottom opening of the Hennessey, staring at me from between my feet.

when you get your hammock and hang it up, lie down, and snooze a bit,
then you will be 'a Hanger"
Hope that helps! KM (oh and welcome to the madness!)

While either hammock would have been a good choice it's best to go with your gut and avoid all the second guessing that can come with buying just on price.

By the way, love the screen name. You must ride in a state with no helmet law.

Well since you are a Harley guy (that also likes technology ) may I suggest a Colt 1911 .45 ACP for those occasions when an "ugly menacing head" pokes through anywhere? Me? I ride a Beemer and carry a Glock foedy!

    Oh and welcome!

100th Anniversary coming up soon. On March 29, 1911 the Colt 1911 was selected as the official side arm of the armed forces of the USA.

    http://www.m1911.org/history.htm

How do I know this? A friend has invited all his friends to his home on that date at 1p.m. to honor the choice by spending the afternoon sending some lead down range. To re-enact the torture test which resulted in its selection. Bring your own or one will be provided.
Anyway this friend once had a cat named - Brain Damage.

Good choice on the BB, the only problem I've had with mine is I don't get to camp with it as often as I'd like.
