If you cant get the bowline tied, try tying it the way the eno was originally tied there. Assuming they do it the way Treklight does. I think it's called a double overhand knot. It has held well for me. Of course I'm also much lighter. The cinched up cord in the hammock ends is taking a lot of the force. You could always change to the bowline when you have enough rope.

Mine is un modified. Go back to the way you had the buckle straped on. Now take the taped end and tie a simple overhand not. Now take the buckle and pass it through the loop that was created on the taped end. Should work okay. The only difference between that and the way the treklights come stock is that it's only a single larks head holding the hanging hardware on.

Not yet, I have some 3mm Vectran on the way for attaching hammock to cinch buckles. Hammock came from PO with some very large line that I am having a hard time working with. The 3mm Vectran is half the diameter of this stuff and just as strong. I also need some for my structural ridgeline anyway.

I'm also still waiting for my MacCat to arrive and I need to buy pads and an underquilt at the beginning of the month. I also need to rig up a stand to try it in the yard, the only two trees are very close to neighbors driveway and I don't want them running into me. The only other option is tying one end of the hammock to a telephone pole but this may not be a good idea.

Excuses, excuses.

Actually, Sgt. Rock gave me a hard time at TD about the same thing. I had just bought my first real hammock (thank you hammock engineer) and Rock asked where I had it set up. When I told him I wasn't setting it up on that trip he just shook his head and walked away muttering something about horses and water.

Have fun with the 'pimping' and be sure to tell us how happy you were the first night you went a hangin.

Just some caution not sure but caution none the less. My Treklight came with a large diameter rope at the ends stock. The caution part is that you may unwearily put a more focused tension on the end of the hammock if you replace this small part of rope creating a shearing effect on the fabric. Like I said I'm not sure but others with more experienced may coment. What I did was attach to this rope using a loop in the end of my spider line. pulled the double heavy line through the loop in the spider line then took the far end of the spyder line and threaded it though the loop of the heavy line and pulled it taught. Not sure what you call this but it works pretty much the same way you would use a loop on the end of a fly line when fishing, seems to work pretty good.
