Need DIY Stand Ideas

OK so I am moving into a Condo and finally have some extra room to hang a hammock indoors. I want to build a stand that is somewhat decent looking and need a little help with the dimensions. This will be my first stand and I don’t know where to start.

I plan on using 2x4s for the base and arms and plan on a design similar to the below.

I want to make this thing as small and compact as possible as it will go into one of bedrooms. I will be using it for a brazillian hammock and my understanding is they need less distance between “trees” to hang.

Anyone have any suggestion for: Base length, arm length or arm angle???

My Brazilian is hung from the ceiling but the distance between the hammocks end loops is 12' 4" and from end loops to ground is about 6'. Brazilians can be a challenge with a stand.

I put together some plans for TrailH4x's PHS design and ^Shane^ compiled them into PDF form which can be found here. You can tweak this design a bit to fit your needs, perhaps.

I agree with Knotty. It'll be tough to meet your "compact" criteria with a brazilian, unless your stand is really tall.

Consider the wall mount or ceiling mount options. They work, when installed properly.

If you don't mind my asking, what do you weigh? How long is your hammock?

I'm 215#, and I used 2x3 studs for the base and outriggers. That lightened it up quite a bit...

I used 2x3 DougFir for everything but the uprights. It's still pretty heavy but it works great for my backyard.

Im 165lbs but i would love the stand to handle 300 lbs so my wife and i can lay together every now and then. I havent bought the brazilian yet but i have a WBBB i will test with if i decide to go gathered end vs brazilian
