The knot I used successfully on amsteel with a single ring or biner was the munter mule

The munter knot is for belaying climbers, so its adjustable in both directions. The munter mule is the tied off version. Its easy to untie and readjust, and holds on the amsteel. Its not quite as convenient as the Garda. (It is not a version of the trucker hitch).

Been without an internet connection to post, but I was at West Marine Friday and they had amsteel 7/64" on clearance for .39/ft. I bought 50' just because.

Is that just the regular gray, Amsteel 12 in the 7/64 size? I can get that from Redden Marine for .14 per foot and about 6.00 shipping.

It was listed at $1.42/foot, but you know how those sale prices are. Plus, I love no shipping.

The Redden marine at 50' would have still been cheaper. Even with the shipping.
At least you didn't have to wait for it.

Yeah, waiting sucks! I just had to send some hiking pants back to Campmor becuase they sent the wrong size. Told me it would be about 2 weeks to turn the return around. Too cold to hike naked, so now I get to go buy overpriced REI pants instead, buuut no waiting.
