Need to get a new thread injector

The entry level Brother thread injector my son got me for Christmas has died and I am looking for a new or used machine. I have been checking out the local second hand stores and the one place in town that repairs them and I have not found anything.

    So with that in mind....

I need some suggestions on what can I get new in the $200-300 range and what brands/models should I look at and what online stores and or brick and mortar stores should I check out (I live on the coast in North Carolina).

I was in the process of making a hammock for my first grandchild when the thread injector died. I talked to the one place in the area that works on sewing machines and they said it would cost more to try and fix it than the machine was worth.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I lucked out and my mother gave me her "old" Singer 301A. I had been looking for one on ebay and for the money, was impressed with the offerings. Most were cleaned and oiled and repaired at a dealer. The prices were from $100 to $375. If you know what you are looking for and are careful, you can find a good deal. Others on the HF have their favs, this is mine. The 301A is a slant foot, straight stitch with reverse. Attachments are readily available. All metal gears and built like a tank. Mom bought hers new in 1956ish and took excellent care of it. My 2 cents (no change needed)
    Good hunting, take your time.

Be careful of E-bay. First some things are misrepresented. But many sellers will not allow home pickup because they make money on their shipping charges. That is technically against the rules if I understand correctly, but it is commonly done. To pay $40 to ship something you could pick up the next town over is hefty penalty to pay IMO. Just a heads up. If'n you can't try it before you buy it... I would stir clear unless you have it on _excellent_ authority that the seller is legit.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

For new. I would suggest the Janome Sewist 500. You can also find it as a Babylock Molly. This is a really nice machine. I have the Babylock version.
