Fight with yourself often do you? The mason line has worked pretty well with the line-loks for me. the 550 cord looked kind of big for the mini's might work well with the full size versions.

Nothing is better on a tent/tarp guyline for adjusting tension than a good old fashion taught-line hitch

Even though they are listed to work on 2-5mm line, they don't work well on larger line. They just barely grip the 3mm Spectra that I use, but they really shine when using with smaller line like Speer No tangle or Mason line.

I dont understand that, I bought 550 paracord from "Supply Captain" and used it on my tarp with the cleats (I presume you are talking about the recent group buy glow in the dark ones from the UK ?) and they worked great, got a nice tension on all the lines and did'nt slip even in windy conditions, my knots however did.

I hesitate to suggest this , but RTFM ? the first couple of times I set them up in the field I got them the wrong way around, they took the tension, but any force at all and they slackened off.
