just finishing a book i thought would be of general interest here -- called WITHOUT A PADDLE -- RACING TWELVE HUNDRED MILES AROUND FLORIDA BY SEA KAYAK, by Warren Richey. The guy (in addition to being crazy) is actually a reporter/writer, so he can actually write, and he sleeps in a hammock on his journey. Kept me up late reading...
Read this book a couple of months ago. Great read about a pretty gruelling event undertaken by a virtual beginner. Recommend it too anyone who enjoys paddling or just about anyone who likes to read about someone facing and beating the challenges nature and man put in front of us.
I'm reading that book right now. It's well written and pretty funny. It combines two of my favorite passions.
