I am almost 53 years old. Have 2 kids. First backpacking trip at 16 to the AT in PA, alone. Got there, go back... giant backpack full of canned food, and a tarp.
Multiple backpacking trips over the years, winter, summer fall, spring. Mostly solo, but some with others. Many times with a dog...
Have been a couch potato for the last 10 years.... trying to correct it.
Taking my 8 year old out for a few nights up to the Texas hill country.
Used to love sleeping in my jungle hammock in Panama in the Army back in the 70's... was just a net hammock, with poncho rigged over, and a army poncho liner for warmth. Those days were great.

Would like to get back into hammocks.
Over the next few years plan on doing a lot of backpacking in many places. Hopefully using a hammock.
Great to find these forums. Ain't the 'net great ?

Hello Bob, and Welcome!
There is a lot of great info around here to sort through and plenty of great people. I think there are several other Texans around, so I always recommend finding some other locals and checking out their gear to see what you like.
