Which sites are best suited for landing and launching kayaks? I think there was talk of a nice beach at one site?

It's hard to beat burgers and brats or steaks on a good ole campout.

MattH - The beach is over on site 1 but there is also a decent area to put in/take out at site 4

Thanks. This thread has gotten me ready to go. Been up in the front of the house going over gear and seeing what will and will not fit in the kayak. I have trimmed my necessities way back since switching to a hammock. Now I think back and wonder why I thought I needed all that "stuff" to get and enjoy the outdoors.

Agree. Sites 1 & 2 have a nice beach area which faces calm water with little boat traffic making it an ideal swimming area for kids. Sites 3, 4, & 5 face the lake where there is more traffic yet the traffic is far enough away where swimming is still feasible, in fact most of our time in the water last year was in this spot, although we had no kids in attendance that time. There is a smaller boat landing area at site 4 and I believe we had maybe 8-10 boats (including 1 jet-ski) there last year. Again, plenty of area for boats no matter which site you head for.

Maybe time to start planning Saturday evening dinner? Low Beaufort Country More Frog Stew Boil once again Also need to consider alternate items for those that would prefer something other . . . I have one that has allergies to the crustaceans. Just something to consider if others would prefer something different.

Maybe I can grab a charcoal grill and have enough charcoal to keep it going for Friday evening and everyone can bring their preferred meat of choice and cook it up at their convenience, if they would like. Might also be handy for those that would like something else for dinner on Saturday evening.

I have updated the spreadsheet so that everyone can chime in on what they would like to contribute to the Saturday evening meal.

You will also see that shrimp for the boil will be based on the number of people eating shrimp. Shrimp, as part of a meal, is typically based on a half pound per person, some eat more ( ) and some will eat less. We ask that you plan to cover your cost for shrimp when you get to the island. I will purchase the shrimp based on what people sign up for so that we get shrimp of the same size & quality so that cooking time will not vary. Currently I do not know what the cost per pound will be but I am fairly confident that $7 for now will cover it. I will post the actual cost once it has been determined.

If someone has signed up for an item that you would also like to bring, just include your name with the other person(s) and put in parentheses the quantity you are planning to bring, we can adjust the spreadsheet if needed.
