    Pajamas

It's 20 degrees F and breezy. You're sleeping on a ccf pad with shoulder wings, with a Nest underquilt and a No Sniveller on top.

How much more do you need to be comfortable and unafraid of drafts sneaking in under the quilts? Silk pajamas? Wool thermal longjohns? Fleece jockstrap?

If your coming north you may want to ask your local refrigerated warehouses if you can hang for a night or two in there deep freeze cooler, LOL! Orlando, I would definately be going comando, feels like summer down there right now for us northern folk!

i never did like taking clothes off to get into bed (camping) & putting them on to get up... especially just to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

i use my insulated clothing that i wear around camp as part of my sleep system.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Same here...bad enough getting out of the quilt or bag without having to put on cold stuff. I do usually remove outermost parka and pants especially if water proof.
Gentle raindrops and mighty oceans...neither can exist without the other.
Time heals all wounds...but it usually leaves a pretty big scar.

The NS wouldn't get me into the 20s w/o insulated clothing. I sleep cold, though.

I second that, I am a human popsicle anymore. Mid weight smartwool on bottom, 100 wt fleece on top, and windproof fleece hat are standard sleeping clothes for me unless it is crazy hot at night.

Before my popsicle days the NS, ccp, and sleeping clothes would be fine underneath for me.

    HE,
Since you are still a young buck, what do you attribute this change to?

Your system will work fine if you add one of these:

It was during my southound AT thru where I started 230 and finished around 210, my lowest was 203. No body fat makes it way colder. Plus my metablism is on overdrive.

Another thing I thought of was not waiting until you are freezing to get in the hamock. More of an issue on the trail than in the backyard. If you are freezing before you get in, it takes a lot more to warm up.

You winter time trail meals also need to have more fat than summer meals. I wouldn't use winter trips to lose a little weight. A stick of butter is standard in all of my diners.
