Welcome to the obsession!
Great story... well except for the scared horse.
I would not have anticipated that.

Welcome Great White from south Florida. It's obvious that you have certainly done your homework Florida now has a well established hammocking community as you can see from the posts above.
Here is a link to our outing last January consisting of 50 members!

I too was surprised to see Great White out there, weird coincidence. Got to get that Warbonnet tarp, so that I'm not attacked by horses in the middle of the night!
Welcome! We had some lost equestrians wander through our camp in the Sipsey Wilderness one night. The horses weren't afraid of our spinn tarps-go figure. Guess you never know what is going to spook a horse.
Thank you everyone for your kind words of welcome.
I did hear about the 1st annual Florida hang, but I was not equipped properly nor comfortable with going to that event at that time. Glad to hear it was a success. As for the upcoming events, I am still in the process of purchasing equipment for over night trips so I am unsure if I will be willing to commit to them at this time.
In the past I have only been performing day hikes due to multiple factors. But I am starting to get into over night hikes. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the future.
