I used to pack a small piece of Tyvek and just place all my gear on it under my hammock, but, I just got a JRB Jeff pack cover/gear hammock and that thing rocks, just clip it too the suspension and put all my stuff in it!

It's always best if your an early riser!
I just leave it on the ground beneath me and use it as a ground sheet to stand on when I get changed for bed. Plus when its on the ground it means its easy access to the pockets from inside the hammock. The only times I've hung it from my suspension are when it's been muddy underfoot, and when I've hung on a steep slope.
I'd be enclined to try and hang it from my suspension but rather than have it dangle loose have it sit inside the top end of my hammock
Because I can only car camp now, I use a cabbage case to keep my gear in. I park it next to my hammock under the tarp to help me get in when I am using an open topped hammock. If I am using the Hennessy, I park it so that it keeps my wheelchair from rolling out from under the people chute allowing for a more graceful exit. (My fellow Scoutmasters affectionately call it a hammock giving birth to an adult.

I hang mine from the same tree I secure the head end of my hammock/tarp to. Both my pack and day-pack have loops at the top to hang from small branches, otherwise I run an extra length of the suspensino around the tree and tie it to the tree. Usually around eye level so that I can access everything just like it was at home on a shelf.

I second the JRB Jeff pack cover/gear hammock. It works great!
Most often, I slip the haul loop of my pack under one of my Treehuggers, then slide a stick or spare tent stake through the haul loop. I also put a trash bag or pack cover around the hanging pack. If I'm doing really well at leaving extraneous stuff at home, I might put my empty pack under my legs for insulation. Once I've hung my hiking clothes to air out/dry, put my night/sleeping stuff into my hammock, and hung my food/smellables, I shouldn't have much more "stuff."

I use a method learned here (can't remember who posted it).
A few feet of rope with a mini biner at one end. Wrap rope around tree and clip thru biner. Attach a trail stick to hanging rope tail with a marlin spike hitch. Hang pack on the trail stick toggle.

I use a tree hugger and S-biner and hang on a nearby tree. I like the tripod idea for access and may try this weekend.
I just sit my pack on the ground inside the pack cover.
