    You have me completely baffled.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

Yes, I've been saying this all along in discussions of sleeping bags vs quilts, in hammocks or on the ground. Even in the hammock I've always noticed a large dif in being in the bag with collar and hood cinched down vs. simply using the bag as a quilt. No comparison for me after multiple attempts. Although, I may have had better results if I had been using an actual quilt, such as a No Sniv, designed for hammock and ground use, than a mummy bag trying to use it as a quilt. But having a draft proof seal around your head, neck and sides is super helpful.

i may make a sewn through version of this wearable quilt...
    http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...5/PC140026.JPG
to see more pictures of it go to page 13 of my gallery.

i learned a few things on that version that i will do differently on the next version.
    but that's another thread.

i believe the complete seal of a draft tube or collar will significantly improve any quilts warmth to weight ratio.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I have been thinking about making a quilt that zips into a ripstop bottom with a draft tube. Similar to the big agnus bags. That is the best way I can come up with with the least amount of weight. That would make the best multipurpose bag for air/ground use I can think of.

i've thought about doing something similar & making a sleeve to put my DAM in that had several attachment points for the quilt.
