    Bug Nets for Sale?

So far I have found the ENO, WB, and PapaSmurf's bug nets. I tried searching the forums but the words are too common. I think I'd like to support the cottage industries over the big ones. What else is out there?

I'm sure this has been brought up before, so a good thread link would be good too!

Having trouble finding a Bug Net I wanted was what got me to buy the WBBB 1.7. Buying a Bug Net that wasn't built in seemed like a bunch of extra weight (because it goes all around the hammock there is a lot of extra material), and for an extra 60-100 dollars, instead of just having a bug net, I have a second hammock setup ready to go

Have you checked out one of the simpler styles. Easy to buy, easy to make,

    dp Bug Net ...
    http://www.dphammockgear.com/hammocks.html

dp Bug Net is a head to waist design, completely adjustable, use only when needed

Head to Waist length? We assume you will always use a throw of some kind over your legs

Weighs 3/4 oz You read correctly, three quarters of an ounce (20 grams)

Note: The dp Bug Net is NOT included with a hammock or tarp purchase

    $9.95 Instructions included

That is certainly something I aspire to, but do not have the cash flow for.

This looks really fantastic. Looks like a reasonable attempt for a first-time DIY project too (was thinking this or a tarp). I like that design a LOT. Would like to see that for sale somewhere!

I originally couldn't find enough reviews on this, only finding a few that had mediocre reviews at best, and was pointed repeatedly to a Warbonnet bugnet which is the same price, so I can't vouch for it myself. All I know is their Tarp/Hammock are amazing, so I can't see this as being a poor choice, Seth makes great stuff (granted, I'm sure Brandon over at Warbonnet obviously does too!)

I thought I had done a quick review of it, but it seems I was only discussing the tarp from TL.

It is a tube design, which I'm not a big fan of personally. The ends cinch-up to seal and you really want a ridgeline for it (like the pic shows). I find it somewhat cumbersome to get in and out of without looking like I'm drunk. I'm sure it would improve with practice, but I have other (easier) options that usually get the nod. I also don't really like light colored netting. The viability from inside seems to be greatly reduced, at least to my eyes.

All that said, it does work. I used it a handful of times last summer with perfectly good results. I agree about Seth and his products, both are class acts. Part of the problem is that Seth isn't targeting the hiking community as much as the he is the recreational community. Different needs, wants, and desires. His hammocks still rock just fine!

I started out with a WBBB, which has a built in net, but found that the arrangement wasn't my favorite because I felt a little closed in. I also like to hook the sides of my UQ up to my ridgeline to keep it nice and snug against me and the netting was in the way. Ordered a WB Traveller and like it a lot. By adding the WB bug net, I am able to leave it home when it's cooler, which also offsets the weight of my heavier UQ. When it warms up, I'll switch to my lighter UQ and add the bug net, but since the bugnet wraps around everything, I'll still be able to hook my UQ up to my ridgelines.

Anyway, that's what works for me and I will say that the bug net that I just got from WB is built really nicely.

I bought one of the bugnets from WBBB and only used it one time. I really felt closed in in that thing and no air can pass through it. I prefer to just pull my bugnet back on my BlackBird when I want. I thought about making a BB without a bug net and even figured out how it could be done and still maintain the shelf, but Animal Control talked me out of it. Ahh! Friends don't let friends make dumb stuff.
