MMG IX Hammock Sock with Dutch SEEP

Hangnout made a wonderful bugnet for his hammock that uses shock cord to hold up panels. That allows you to get in and out by pulling down the panels. I used the concept to modify the Molly Mac Gear IX Hammock Sock so that the SEEP (Side Entry/Exit Portal) has a lower part like a Dutch Door.

    It works well!

    • You can get in and out on either side of the hammock, without removing the sock.
    • You can install and remove the sock without taking down the hammock.
    • You can use your hammock as a lounge chair without removing the sock.
    • The Dutch SEEP eliminates small air leaks near your head or shoulders
    • The Sock is still highly breathable and easily vented.

Thats cool. A very nice mod.
I'm thinking of an all bug net version, as its a bit of a PITA to get in and out of the zipper opening (comparatively speaking), and I do not have a built in bug net.

I love it! Goes to prove the old adage that two heads are better than one. Nice merging of ideas. I really like the apparent simplicity of this design tweak. Congratulations!

Thanks! I much prefer an overlapping top than a separate roof. It only needs one piece of shock cord to support both sides.

Thanks! I'm also thinking of doing a sock with bugnet above the IX... or just making the lower portion of the Dutch SEEP out of bugnet.

Thanks! It does simplify the sock, and improves the coverage. Hangnout comes up with good stuff often!
