Cabelas Eureka Hammock out of stock

Well, ka ka, I had followwd those posts about those Crysails hammocks and waited to long on that $99.99 hammock.
After placing the order yesterday, I got an email that they are all gone....

But when I called customer service they found 2 in East Hartford, Conn.
After a few phone calls the store was able to confirm (hands on) that they had these.

I was able to place my order directly from the store at the same price and it's gonna get Fedexed down here to Texas.

    All was not lost

Good find, at that price they are sure to clear out any stock of the older ones.

My local outdoor store has a couple but they want $220 each

They do have some of the bug nets that are really hard to find at around $65 if you decide you want one.

I am ok with mine.... It will be a great winter hammock for me....but this time of year it is in the Hennessys....I am not interested in mods or changing anything on it...I guess what attracted me to this one is cuz it weighed so much.......

    Hah!

    I have lightened mine.

Changed out to whoopies and got rid of that webbing and buckle system. I haven't weighed it yet, but is considerably lighter!

I did trim 1" from the head spreader bar [as was suggested here] and the canopy fits better now. Not so much tugging to get it velcro'd while in the hammock.

I also removed the bolts from the spreader bars and cut the head off some shoulder bolts and rounded them over to just insert into the webbing instead of leaving the bars permanently attached. Got some 1/8 shock cord to keep the sides pulled tight against the spreaders to keep them in place.

I am using a Big Agnes down bag with a BA air core mattress and is working pretty good. No pillow needed.

May ditch the mattress come summer...

Not sure of ventilation as of yet, but I will be mainly camping in the NC/GA/TN mountains where it is somewhat cooler at night. We'll see...

I even bought one of those 5 x 7 wal-mart nylon tarps to rig up a kind of porch for rainy weather.

Pretty comfy for me so far just using it around the house.
