I would love to join in on this, but my May is already booked with annual events. I may be able to sneak away for an overnight on one of those weekends, but to do the whole thing would require a June date.
I'm close and inexperienced in hammock camping, so I'll do my best to adapt to whatever the larger group decides.
If your lucky enough to be outdoors, your lucky enough!
Ooh, I'd love to make it to this. I am uncertain as to time off options around this time, but I hope I can get there. Memorial day weekend is tough in the service/retail industry.
I haven't voted yet...Not sure..Memorial Day weekend is tough as I have plans that are an annual tradition. May 21 weekend is booked due to one of those have-to-be-there-weddings...After reading the other posts looks like Mem. day weekend is getting popular.....I hope I can make it work to do a group hang with you all. Hopefully not on those weekends though (fingers crossed).

As most of you know that when it happens, there'll be a Green sighting.

Looks like Memorial day weekend may be the time for the next Northern Hang. Does anyone have anymore suggestions as to where a good place would be? I like the idea of going to SHT and hitting up section 13.

It could be pretty busy on the trail Memorial Day weekend....lots of folks have annuals then.
If the hang gets pretty large ....as hangs do of late .....might be prudent to think seriously about another date.
Just tossing that out there to ponder........

Section 13 is a cool hike, I did that hike with Shug last spring however the Section 13 campsite is way up on the top of hill (overlook) and isn't big enough to accommodate a large group of hangers and it has no close water source. Leskinen Creek multi group campsite is a better campsite for larger size groups with free parking at the Finland Rec Center lot and it's a much easier hike.
Another good site would be the Cascade River State Park area further north, specifically the large Trout Creek campsite. That would require a fee to park vehicles in the park's parking lot but the hike from the parking area to the large Trout Creek campsite would be a good choice and has easy access to water. A group of us did a hang there last fall. I've attached map snapshots of the two areas below from my Garmin Topo 24K map software showing the GPS tracks of the actual trail and the campsites circled. I also have the tracks and campsites for the entire Superior Hiking Trail if anyone else has more site suggestions to look at I could post them.
**EDIT
I just saw Shug's post and he is right, Memorial Day weekend is busy and might be tougher coordinating a group hang since the SHT sites are first come first serve so there are no guarantees a site will be open. State Parks may frown on a large group parking cars in their lots and leaving the park to stay on the trail rather than in the park's campsites as well?

I agree with Shug. It can be pretty busy on the SHT during weekends, not to mention Memorial day weekend. Areas near state parks can also be pretty busy, riddled with day hikers and families out taking pictures (not that there's anything wrong that). Section 13 and nearby area is one of, if not the most popular section of the whole trail. Just going to throw that out there...
