Anybody with use 1.5oz RS for a hammock?

BWDD has some and states that it can be used for a hammock. I weigh about 230lbs. I think this will hold. I see a thread about using 1.1 RS, so I think this will hold. Just seeing if anyone else has used it.

at 230lbs if it was me i would go with some 1.9 just to be on the safe side... will the 1.5 hold you probly will but there might be some stretch
better to be safe then on the ground

you could always make a dbl layer out of the 1.5 if your still not sure
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I've been wanting to pick some of the 1.5 up for a hammock. Can't seem to find it many other places and I feel it would be perfect for a single layer hammock for me at 180lbs I have a 1.1 and it works fine but has a fair amount of stretch and creates some shoulder squeeze.

Going off warbonnet, 1.1 single max flatness rating is 140lbs with a 185lb weight limit and the 1.7 single is 190lb with a 240lb weight limit. Of course this may change with the way a hammock is made(I don't know but most do the warbonnet traveler style). If this be the case maybe something a little heavier or a double layer may be better for you, unless you don't mind a little stretch. I don't think it would really bother me.

    But I'm no expert.

the way a hammock is made really don't have anything to do with the way fabric will stretch ....
i always felt a good guide line to go by is the way Warbonnet does his like thexuprising stated... it's a good starting point to know what fabric will work best
your going to get 20 different opinions on this subject and of what fabric will do what ... so it comes down to how much you trust it under your weight
and who's numbers you take as facts .....

I guess I'll have to use the Hammock Forum motto--"Only hang as high as your willing to fall"

1.5 fabric working fine for me

I made a bridge hammock with the BWDD 1.5 fabric and it works great. It feels great against the skin too. Not abrasive like a lot of heavier fabrics are.

I only weigh 180 lbs though.

    Happy Trails

Stop showing off. Some of us Clydesdales are proud of the fact that a stiff breeze won't knock us over!
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.

Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I made a double layer gathered end hammock for a friend out of the BWDD 1.5 and the fabric is great! Nice texture and easy to work with.

If you are making a single layer hammock using 1.5 oz RS will save you about 2.44 oz versus using 1.9 so the question is; does the weight savings justify the butt busting potential? I don't think the 1.5 would fail for you in a single layer but it may seem stretchy...
