Yep...he's actually been on HF for a while...he goes by MarshLaw303. Looks like good stuff. Too bad I'm poor.
i wonder why his products are approximately $150 more than products with similar specs from other companies. i've wanted to ask the guy, but don't really know how to without blowing up his spot. maybe he'll see this post and let me know
Google Tim Marshall quilts and read the raves. I'm broke and the second I can grab one it will be in my greedy little hands.
Please provide a link to a quilt that compares to mine for $150 less. I am more than willing to try and figure out the reason for the difference.

been talking to tim off and on all day. If you really read the new site (and its being updated all day) i think he has some really innovative features. The zippered footbox with the two snaps above it and the new baffles that let you move down to name a few.
If you check the fill weights too, I think you will see they are often more than other manufacturers.
I decided against the cuben, i tend to sweat easily and I dont think I can manage a vbl quilt as well as some other people.
Going with the nylon versions he has.
The new baffle system is KARO step. It is well know in the DIY forum here but i believe i am the first vendor to offer them. I really like how they increase down control (by controlling head to toe and side to side compare to tubes which just control head to toe) I also love how you can move the down around to where you need it but it will stay put.

your 20 degree quilt... 17oz $490
hammockgear.com 15 degree topquilt... 20oz $230
warbonnet black mamba 3 season 20 degree topquilt.... 19oz (including stuffsack) $250
older version of golite ultra 20... 20oz $150 on sale
those were the first 3 that came to mind. like i said i wasn't really trying to blow up your spot. just wondering how you things were being justified for the price tag. worth 2 ozs? could stormcrow's hit 17 oz if it were a 20 instead of 15? is the black mamba 18 without the stuffsack? i'm just trying to gather info...
the difference is in the materials, and possibly labor, not sure how they work theirs out. I am using $25yd CUBEN Fiber compare to $3yd Ripstop 1.1oz nylon. If the difference of a few ounces of weight and the added warmth of the vapor barrier aren't things that matter to you then i fully understand why you wouldn't spend nearly twice as much. The Cuben Fiber quilts are definitely a specialized item and can no way be compared apples to apples with breathable quilts.
Even my nylon stuff is about $100 more. Again i am using a much higher quality nylon than the standard 1.1 ripstop. The INTREPID 20D is much smoother and less sticky feeling and blocks wind much better than standard 1.1rip. Again, it is all about what is of value to the customer. I may not have the same customers as those guys because our customers value different things. You have to compare my quilts with cottage made products (sorry GoLite i don't use asian labor) that use similar materials. Compared to Pertex Quantum(Nunatak), Momentum 90(MLD) and other quilts using Intrepid 20d (see TiGoat for one from JRB) i think my quilts compare well.
All that said i will be offering quilts that use more standard materials eventually through the Sanborn Canoe Co. These quilts will have the well known 1.1rip material and pricing very similar to the quilts you've mentioned.
