Truly, that was a very nice product you produced. And two of my three daughters were in Winter Drum Line, so we often practiced with the Winter Guard. In fact, we've got several WGI World Championships between the two groups.

Also, Newnan High School used to come up to our (John Overton HS) contests here in Nashville while I was the Band Booster President.

    Hey, another band dad!!

Actually my daughter is at Northgate HS...even though Northgate is 12 years old we're still the new kids on the block in our county. We've had a couple of independent guards and drumlines that are affiliated with our folks in WGI finals...think our drumline took 2nd or 3rd a couple of years back...

I wanted to resurrect this thread and say thanks OP for the inspiration. Made my own Blue Cat Tarp today. First sewing project ever and learned a lot.

Started with a Harbor Freight 8 x 10 (which actually measured something like 7' 5" x 9"), cost $3.50. Still a tight squeeze to fit my ENO SN under it -- need to start with something more like 12' on the long dim next time. My cat cuts were completely eyeballed. Stitching is ugly as homemade sin, but it's done and I think it'll work fine. I pitched it before any sewing and it seems ok. Will have to do the real pitch tomorrow or Tuesday since I'm outta daylight today. 15oz. finished weight btw.

BUT, for the pics or it didn't happen crowd, here's a folded-on-the-floor pic for ya.

Thanks for the resurrection. What with day and month, I didn't notice it was a year old.

What an excellent write-up, well-edited in all respects. (Man, I love the direct access of text and still photos. Cuing for replay at every desired re-entry point is so fast, and slo-mo is exquisitely under control of my brain.)

This is a nice project. My 12 yr old wants a tarp for his hammock and I'm thinking this might be a great starter unit for him. Any idea how much this thing weighs?

HayJay - Glad to see someone gave it a try! Post another pic or two so we can see it hangin'.

cwford - I haven't bothered to weigh it. One thing I noticed as I was making tarps for a friend's sons...those little tarps come in several different weights. He found some lighter, thinner tarps and we didn't realize it until I started sewing.
