They're calling for rain and 40's this week. It's going to get messy. I'm still trying to ease into getting out in worse weather than a summer rain. I don't have the gear to handle rain, wet, AND cold yet. I'm working on it, though.

I admire your drive to get out in the woods.

Bummed I couldn't make it out there with ya. Looks like you had a great time solo though.
I admire how you weren't bothered by wolves surrounding your camp. Not sure I would be as calm...especially being out there solo. However, I agree hearing wolves howling back and forth to one another is an amazing experience. I hear them a lot while up north deer hunting every year...but confidence is a little higher with a rifle in my hand!
Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!

Wolves are not known to attack man too often ...it happens but they are less concern to me than other wildlife. Those red-squirrels .....scary!
The wolves were like a gift from above for me that night. Intense.
Maybe next time you can get up there too.

    Good job!

That's pretty good to find where a deer bedded down so close to your hang. I call that deer noise a "chuff!" It's an alarm, and you hear it when they are challenging something. If they know you are there, but they can't pinpoint your location, they will direct a loud, barking "chuff!" right at you, as though they think they can scare you into revealing yourself.

Looked like you half expected a reply to that big, head rushin' "Whooo Buddy!"

Idea needs work. Shug's tripod is better - it has a ball and socket. Material for a different thread - later.
