Looking for inexpensive light hammock. Got one, Thanks!!

    Hi there.

Title says most if it. Indoc started this morning for my brother who is now training to be a Navy SEAL. Looking for something very simple and light to send him which he can use over the next couple months (when he gets to rest).

Should be under a pound at most. If there is any amsteel to hang it with that would also be a plus.

    Thanks.

Have you thought about making one yourself for him? Knotty has a great tutorial for making hammocks here and you can make the suspension for about $10.00 too.

My favorite, off-the-shelf, inexpensive hammock is the Grand Trunk Ultralight. You can snag it for $20 or less.

I will make one in the future, just looking to get it out to him sooner than the time it would take me to do.

Was hoping maybe that someone would have an extra Grand trunk or Byer Traveller light, or something they made laying around collecting dust.

How much are you looking to spend? The Grand Trunk is a good price point but I have read about a couple of them ripping unexpectedly while in use.

I got one of these for my son. http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CDoQ8wIwAg#

I'm 225lbs and slept a few nights in it. I just had to make sure it would hold him up. LOL I bought mine at a local place for under 20bux. You will have to provide suspension. He's in the armed forces. They have some pretty good rope. LOL!

I like the look of the grand trunk, was wondering about people's experience with them. I am not trying to outfit him with something to backpack with, just to hang in when he wants to rest, or have a place to sit...Maybe like $50 or so. Less is always better as long as it holds up. He is only about 190lbs, but I could see one of his guys jumping in it in the barracks and just destroying it...

Any experience with the grand trunk? Byer easy taveler/ travel ight? I have an ENO myself. It is a great hammock for just hanging around in and rated for higher weight than the previously mentioned. I just wanted to try and keep it under a pound because he will be carrying all kinds of weight and wouldn't want him to have to leave it behind because of that...

Open to suggestions...again, if anyone has one they made that they want to off load....

IMO spend a couple extra bucks and get a WB traveler. However, I had a GT that worked fine although I found it tough to get flat.
