i'm probly the wrong person to ask LOL
i have 10 feet on each RL pullout and 6 feet on my side pullouts...

i always hunker down close to the ground so i really don't need long lines
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

In all honesty, I believe I'm using something like 3ft lines for the tie outs, haha. Last hang I had no experience with tarp lines and only used my hennessy stock tarp that came with lines, so I just sat around camp and made tensioners and lines I would need for that night only. More so to learn how, I planned to get different line soon.

But there's very few situations I can imagine needing more than a few feet of line. Better to have than have not.

Thanks for all the advice! I still find it difficult to decide, maybe because I'm ill right now so I can't really think clearly.

I really like that idea, but with trying it out with mason line I think I'll run into the problem that I'd be trying it out in the Netherlands. That will be under quite different conditions than in Madagascar and I would like to have it sorted out before I leave for a months vacation over there.
You might consider that just to find a good way to ration you're legnth before you cut you're better line. I'd probably still use a your other line for the ridge though.
Choosing the size of the ridgeline would determine the size of the panel pulls as well. I was thinking the following: 10' for the ridgelines seems the way most of you go with, so that would leave 20' to make a single tie out point for 2 pullouts on each side (maybe minus some prussiks). If I should run into the unfortunate situation where 10' for the ridgelines isn't enough, could I just swap the ridgelines with the panel pull lines? That way I think I have max. flexibility?
Let the journey become the destination!

I would just buy another 100' and save yourself the math head ache!
