did you use your nest and top quilt only or did you have pad also? was this set up warm enough at 35?Originally Posted by FanaticFringer
Back from my first solo overniter. I went to Slaughter Creek Trail in the Blood Mountain Wilderness Area. Thought that would be cool seeing as though Halloween is near. When I got home I did'nt realize that Blood Mountain is one of Georgia's highest peaks. I bet the wind was blowing around 30-40 mph at times. Temps were around 35. Hammock performed well as did the rest of my gear. Will have to get a Balaclava instead of just a fleece hat. Face was kinda cold
I used the Nest and No Sniveller initially. As the night went on and the hurricane like winds proceeded, I got out my 3/4 length 3/8 inch pad (cut 6 inch triangles on all corners). I was very toasty. Clothing worn: Smartwool zip shirt as base layer. Lightweight polypro top over that. Lightweight polypro bottom over my nylon shorts. -40 Wigwam wool socks, Campmor power glove liners (awesome gloves. Weigh only 1.4oz) Wigwam thermolite base cap. Will be getting heavier weight polypro bottoms as I was a little cold in camp the next worning. I also need a Balaclava as my face was a little cold. I pulled the NS over my face and this helped. The No Sniveller as a coat (ala Eastwood) worked like a charm over my extra large rain jacket.

HHULB, 9x9 "Neo" tarp , KAQ Potomac underquilt and A Sportsmans Guide mummy bag 50*.
So far kept me feeling good to the lower 60s
Those Sportsmans Guide 50 degree bags cant be beat for the money. I have two of them for warmer weather.
