Single line tarp ridge line tangle

Hey all. I use a single line tarp ridge line made out of 1.75 lash-it, 2 soft shackle prussik loops to attach to my tarp and a prussik loop with a small Figure 9 on it. For the gizilliointh time I have spent way to much time untangling it at setup. I hank it quite nicely when stowing but all the prussiks, the Figure 9 and the small biner I leave in a fixed loop at the other end cause chaos upon unraveling. I can't be the only one that experiences this.

I love the single line once up for so many reason but I am getting ready to punt back to a really simple 2 line setup with my old Speer no-tangle guyline. Thoughts and wisdom greatly appreciated.

I use snakeskins with storage pockets on the ends to stuff the line in. Keeps it nice and neat. When I use my snakeskins without pockets, I just wrap the line around the ends and this keeps everything from tangling. If I don't use snake skins, I use 2 lines.

    I second the snakeskins.

ah ... so you leave the line attached. I guess a double ended bishop bag (which I have extra of) will work the same. Thank you

Yes, I leave it attached. I'm sure there are others with much more experience that may add something.

Are you hanking your line in figure 8's ? I do this on my hand with my thumb and pinky and don't have any problems with my prussiks. If at all possible I do leave the prussik loops sticking out of hanking but when I have been in a hurry and just rolled them together with the line they still have not tangled.

Thanks and yes I hank the line exactly as you describe. I think it is the biner and the figure 9 that cause most of the problems.

Seems like stowing it with the line detached defeats some of the simplicity of a single line setup. I would use snakeskins or a bishop bag. Setup would be a breeze.
