You probably know my Kenmore is actually a Janome, and I am loving it, It is computerized and knows when the needle is up or down and with a buttom you can make it go up or down. Wherever it is when you start sewing it ends up there when you are done, and one hit of the pedal moves makes ONE stitch either forward or reverse. Man! That is so nice. Also I can slow down the speed or lenght of stitch to just a few thousandths of an inch and sew three layers of webbing with no hitches or without even trying hard, using a ZZ stitch going around one time, instead of the mechanical machine needing to go around many times to fill up the zz stitch. That may have just been a problem with my old machine though. It would not make a very small stitch. Good luck with your new machine. I am modifying a hammock today to make it lay flatter than you can imagine. Steve

steve... that sounds like a nice improvement.
reminds me of a conversation i had w/ a friend who teaches guitar. we talked about how people to often buy cheap guitars for their kid to learn to play on
the kid gets frustrated because the guitar wont stay in tune & doesn't sound that great when it is in tune. so the kid gives up & hates the idea of playing the guitar.

maybe i need to invest in a better sewing machine, cause i often get frustrated w/ the machine i have when i use it for very long<G>.

i know when i got a better (used) table saw, ripping boards became a lot more fun
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Slowhike, Yes, I often buy everything twice, get a deal the first time and get the one I need the next time. BTW, Mine only cost $279 at Sears, plus $30 for a case.
Do you play the guitar? I too do a little of that. If you are interested I could send you a photo of some I've made.

$279 doesn't seam to bad for a good machine. the one i'm using now was a gift from a friend who bought it on sale for less than $100.

i used to pick the guitar but unfortunately i have'nt practiced much in a while, but yeah, i'd be interested in seeing the guitars you made.
if you make them i sure you play as well, right?

    skskinner,

OK, now I'm looking at the Janome 3022. Is this the similar model to your Kenmore "Janome"?

Yes, that is comparable to the Kenmore I got. I see you can get it for $300 too so I would have bought that one myself. Our Janome dealer is way overpriced here in Kokomo. I hope you let us know how much you like it when you get going. I like mine more the longer I use it. Made a Bridge Hammock this week. I wouldn't have done it on my old machine, but I knew it would be fun on this one. Steve

Thanks for all the input guys!!

I may pick it up on the way home tonight. It's out of the way but it'll be worth it to have it for the weekend.

I'll post an AAR once she's up and running.

Edit: Local store doesn't have it in stock and its out of stock on line. Guess I'm gonna have to wait.
