    New guy from Almost Heaven...WV

I stumbled upon this site while searching for reviews on ENO hammocks and info on DIY hammock camping gear. I have been lingering around the site for a few weeks just reading. I finally joined a couple of days ago, but am just getting around to posting. I am a lifelong resident of great state of West Virginia. I love to do anything that gets me outdoors: fly fishing, paddling/float tripping on the rivers, bowhunting, hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. However, sometimes you get married, have a child, and life has a way of stepping in and your priorities get rearranged for a while. It is time to get back to my fellowship with nature, and maybe even drag my wife and daughter along on occasion. Hopefully they won't be kicking and screaming too much.

I look forward to learning a lot from the folks here, and hope that I can contribute to the forum. If you ever need info on WV, let me know. It is a beautiful place, truly God's country. Come visit my state sometime. Later.

    Welcome!

If you get the wife in the hammock, you could change her mind about camping. I know it changed mine!

Timberrr and I will be in VA in September for a hang. Perhaps we will have a chance to meet you and your family there.

Welcome! I started out as "WVhammockmaker" but it got shortened to "WV".
WVbowhunter is easier to say and shorter to type - good choice. Got any favorite places to hike here in Almost Heaven?

Welcome from Morgantown! Always wonderful to have someone else from WV inviting people to our state. We got a group of HF members to come last September to Dolly Sods for a hang and it was great fun. There will be another one this year. I just put the Sept. 16-18 date on the calendar.

Thanks for the welcomes. I haven't gotten a hammock yet, but will probably order one this week. As for hiking, I used to do a lot of hiking in the Mon, mainly in the Williams River, Tea Creek, and Cranberry River areas. Canaan, Seneca and Spruce Knob are nice areas also. One that is definitely on my bucket list is North Fork Mountain Trail. For the last several years, about the only hiking I get done has been along various brookie streams while fly fishing.
