Wabonnet Blackbird 1.7 Double Bottom - First Impressions
I might get alot of negatives for this..but I am just being honest.
We all hang in our own hammocks..
and none of this has ever been brought to my attention before purchasing
thru other postings here or elsewhere..
Let me start out by saying warbonnet blackbirds are top quality products. Warbonnet does a good job with innovative design. nice work Brandon! (IMO)
With that said.. If your under 6 foot 2 and under 250 lbs, get a $40.00 canvas bottom WWII Jungle Hammock and you will be just as pleased if not more.
These BlackBirds, like the Hennessey are for big boys. What I mean is.. if your big..or HUGE in size. it's for you.
This model will support 400 Lbs. And the material is plenty big!
I got the double bottom to avoid skeeters..1.7 was available.
If your of Normal size (American males are still 5ft 9 - 5ft. 10 and under 200 pounds on the norm) these are just overkill period. (IMHO)
They have nice names and nice people attached to them, but overkill. (IMHO)
They do beat out the canvas bottom by a pound or two in weight..but im not a UltraLight backpacker.
Light is good enough..under 5 lbs does it for me.
I am a man who carries his own weight without crying about it...lol..anyways...
You will have nylon wrapped skin which will sweat in the summer and freeze in the winter..(IMHO)
ventilation is less than a canvas hammock imho, even with the breathable fabric.. without a breeze going, your going to sweat! (IMHO)
And the mosquito net will hit you in the face when you rise to any occasion, although there is a ridgeline. (IMHO)
You will fight with yourself trying to find that sweet spot to lay in, that most talk of..it's not canvas that you just lay on. (IMHO)
An old Canvas bottom design lays like a cot..you can lay on your belly. You will not get the comfort canvas can afford you if you are of "Normal" size period. (IMHO)
Once again, first impression and the quality is tops! (IMHO)
Just my opinion and thought I would share it..
If my opnion changes, I will alert the media..
Canvas Mosquito hammocks- $40.00
Nylon Mosquito hammocks - $130 and up. This model was $175.00.. again..Top quality and workmanship..
I would buy one again if I was LARGE, Just overkill for normal size people without the comfort.
