First Hang and first low temp in hammock

To say the door is hanging tight is an understatement.
Really made them too tight. I have to squeeze in just to get in the hammock.
The spreader bars were always touching the hammock. I cut off little doughnut shaped pieces from a blue wally world pad and attached them to the ends of the spreaders. They kinda just glide over the tarp without any real stress. The snake infested area (in warm weather) was on the front end of the hike. Wish I had took a few shots of it.

That door is hanging on tight under what looks to be non-trivial tension. That's good!

Did your spreader bars touch the sides once you got into the hammock and pulled it down?

You know, if the ends of the spreader bars are rounded with no points and no way to snag, and if they aren't really pushing the tarp out enough to challenge the tension on it caused by the stake-outs, maybe the only concern we have about the spreader ends pushing out is aesthetic.

At Mt. Rogers last weekend the wind pushed the wall of my hammock quonset hut right into the endpoints of the spreader bars. No big deal.

From the last picture you posted it looks like the Speer Winter Tarp ha a much wider pitch than your black cat with the door added.

But if the pitch was broader you couldn't have gotten the edges to ground and still have the hammock high enough to be off the ground enough to hang your double layer 1/2 length under-quilt and keep it from dragging on the ground.

So it's a bit awkward for the minute or two you take getting in and out, but when you're in (for HOURS) you're as protected from the elements as you can be.

Worth-while trade-off in my book. Good job.
