I don't see why not, but I haven't tried it.

    You know,

I don't know if I have seen people use snake skins on the hammocks themselves. I kind of like that idea. You could get an idea of tautness and positioning without accidentally dragging your hammock on the ground. Hmm.

Anybody do this regularly? I know that black bishop bags are more common. I might start using both. It's kind of a pain getting everything set on a windy day when your hammock wants to be a parachute.

I think that's what they are made for.

The Clark hammocks could be made to, but I doubt the hennessey skins are large enough to do it.

@leroy - the Trekkingnut vids on youtube show exactly this. There is also one on the Hennessy site in which everything, fly and all, goes into the snakeskins.

I only use them on my hammock. They work great. And my buddy was jealous of how quickly I got setup this past weekend.

    skin to tight?

I just got a set of #4 skins and they are tight. I could not get them on my HH Safari I put them on my Grand Trunk with diy bugnet. I do not think they could hold a Clark with the pockets and weather guard cover and tarp. I see no way they can pass far enough down over the gathered end and rope knot ether.

I use them on gathered-end hammocks and they are too tight on the knot. They can work but you have to work them over the knot and that is a pain.

I broke down and sewed larger ones for the hammock out of left over ripstop and that works better (need to make them tighter though but they keep the junk off the hammock during set-up & takedown.

Work fine on all Tarps I use including Kelty 12, Kelty 9 & DIY Winter Dream Clone (Though I wish they had pockets at the ends for stakes & guylines).

    YMMV
