    Hi rcurry

    Welcome rcurry,

If you seek you shall find your answers here. I'm a newbie to hammocking too. With some time spent here researching and with the help of meeting some HF hangers taking me under their wing and me asking a ton of questions. I'm purchasing my first hammock and tarp this week.

If you get a chance to find a hang in your area it will be much worth the effort to go. You then will be able to see, touch, feel and experience the gear in person.

Also you will get great advice and gain valuable knowledge from the hanger folks there.

Again welcome to the addiction, Cough, Cough, I mean Hammock Forums!

Take care, Happy Trails and paddling to ya!

    welcome to the madness.

I had to give up paddleing as the only way I can get out of my kayak anymore is to flip it over and swim out of it (back problems) which is also why I changed from being a tent camper to becoming a hammock hanger (so much more comfortable and easier to get in and out of).

I also take a hammock with me on days hikes so if I want to take a break, I find a couple of trees and kick back.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Rcurry how about a group multiday paddle hang on L.Cumberlad- want to organize one? I bet many would come. Or is that lake infested with motorcraft?

Dang…I knew I should have checked back on this forum before now.
I have had a wonderful spring, summer and fall of paddling and a little camping. In 2011 I had a total of 64 paddle trips. A couple of those trips were 2 day trips. That’s exactly where my new Safari hammock tent came into play. I absolutely love sleeping in the trees.

Hello to all who welcomed me and sorry I haven’t checked back in before now.

Now if I can just locate that kayak forum…
