    Blackcat tarp help

I'm making a blackcat tarp today and I need some help. I made a template for my Cat curve however, I'm having trouble knowing where to place it on my fabric. I think I'm not understanding the a-b-o part of the instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I used a hex tarp so the template worked on all six sides with minor adjustments. If your fabric is 144X60 on one long side mark the center, then mark out from there 36" each way. Template goes between those marks for side pull outs, trace curve. From side pull out to the ridge is approx 70" so adjust placement of template as needed and trace curve...

If your going to allow for seam allowance then adjust template size as required....

Hope that helps, might need to adjust above to match your design...

I had the same problem today, Fronkey!! I couldn't even find the a-b-o. I am working on a winter cat-cut tarp. I figured where I was putting the tie downs and used the measurement in between for the length on the spread sheet. Lets see if I can explain it better. My bottom is 14'. I measured in 3' on each end, with 8' in between = 96". That was the # I used in the "L" place- (they have 120 as standard). Marked and cut.

After spending ???? time measuring and marking the first half, I tried something different on the 2nd. I still had the first laid out, I placed blocks at the 3' mark (measured from the ends), I had a flexible rod that I pulled from the middle across the tarp. The rod lined up perfect with the cut on the 1st half. Swapped out halves, measured in from the ends, (3') marked then pulled the rod into place. Marked and cut. This is my first attempt at diagrams, not as good as Dejoha's.:lol [IMG][/IMG]
I couldn't get it to come up right, but if you click on the BMP pic, it comes up!!

I just finished my tarp today. I seriously think that these directions need to be more of an outline than a total "how to." There were just so many things that I questioned. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY appreciate Blackbishop for making the directions. I just had some trouble understanding some thing. How is your tarp coming along? I'm going to post pictures of mine tomorrow when I have sometime to hang this sucker.

It's cut-out and I am working on sewing the ridgeline, then on to the tieouts. I had to take a break to find others option on fixing a hole. Starting a new thread on that 1.

If you need help, let me know as I've probably already made the mistake you may make in the future.

Overall though, I think I can make a second one no problem and probably wouldn't even need the directions. I've very happy with what I made.

After reading the BlackCat directions this morning, I was really wondering what I had gotten myself into.. But after getting the material out and started marking, then finding my easier way to mark, it's not going to be to bad. Have a few decisions to make. Mine is camo and trying to decide on what to use for tie-out reinforcement. I have some of the camo 1.1, and some grey 1.9. was thinking about using the heavier 1.9, but on the inside. I don't have any D-rings for the tie-outs. Do I really need the D-rings, or will it be fine without?

I felt the exact same way. It's much easier once you get started. But man, I sure as heck was nervous when I made my first cut into the fabric.

I used gray 1.9 for my corner re-enforcement. I also did use the D rings for my tie outs. I have heard people who don't use them, however I find them much easier to use and really no extra work to put them on. If you don't have them you can get them at walmart in the outdoors section right next to the cordlocks.
