Setting up a drip, or looping your webbing/amsteel/or what ever you use to tie your hammock to the trees, back over itself. Water will run down the line, hit the drip, and go down it. Path of least resistance - and gravity wins!

Make sure you tarp covers both ends of your hammock and drip line and you'll be good to go!

I was just out in a bit of rain Friday night. It's awesome hangin' in the air with the rain running down the tarp. Peaceful!

Sure is. Drip loops or Rings. Easy to tie, make or purchase.

You can tie a knot out of your webbing somewhere well sheltered by your tarp, to the suspension, and just leave the extra to hang down. the knot will catch the water and divert it down the webbing to the ground. Rings work the same way position under tarp coverage, and any water running down the webbing will drip off the ring and travel no further down the suspension.

Drip loop your tarp lines too, and make sure you use a good quality non-wicking line. You should be set.

Bought one of the fake "Sham-Wow" type cloth packs from Dollar Tree and cut it into half inch wide strips to use for drip loops things. Haven't needed them yet, but I'm sure they will work fine

If using an adjustable webbing suspension, you could put some twists into the webbing going to the hammock and the water will drip off the webbing by itself.

Simple, low tech and zero cost.

    Cheers

    Whoopie slings?

I've not had much experience with rain in my hammock. What's a solution for someone using tree straps, a soft shackle, and adjustable whoopie slings?

I would imagine the loose end of the whoopie would work like a drip line, but I havent had a chance to confirm this
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

They do function as a drip line as long as the "tail" exits the line underneath your tarp. If the tail is outside the tarp, any rain that hits between the tail and the tarp will run down to your hammock. Trust me, I learned this the hard way!
