Looking for info on seam tape

Wondering if you can buy seam tape like that used on tarp/tent seams, and if you can DIY. Anyone ever try this, or does everyone just seal seams with standard seam sealers. I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but didn't find much in a search.

Quest Outfitters sells the iron-on seam tape. I haven't tried it as most of my projects involve silnylon and you have to use silicone sealant for that.

Also available from Seattle Fabrics, among others, I'm sure.
