I am a bit late here. I have been making route plans for future trips.

We use trekking poles for spreader bars. They are carbon fiber and won't collapse closer than 24 inch. Basically I used about 3/8 nylon web and made a loop for the tip end of the pole and sewed close to one end to tightly wrap the tip and allow the other end of the loop to be larks headed onto the suspension near the hammock.

For the grip end of the pole I made 2 loops that would tightly fit the pole grips then used 1 more piece of web to connect the loops and cover the top of the grip, again leaving a longer tag loop to connect to the suspension.

I attached 1 cup and 1 tip holder to each hammock, we usually sleep head to foot..
You can exit from the hammock to the center with not much problem either which works very well in weather mode.

The photos explain it better than I can.

When attaching the suspension to the tree come from the "out side" of the tree, not from the center for each suspension.

Yes, you do feel the other person move, but for us it is better than carrying 2 tarps.

We have used this for about 2 years with no issues. I thought the tips might flex to much or break but no problems yet

Thanks for the pics TZ. That's a pretty sweet deat you have going on there. I think I'm gonna give that shot. Like I said, a three tree hang seems best but defintely need back up. Were starting an AT thru next spring and this looks useful to have. We definately don't want to carry two tarps.

Just thinking, but what about tie-outs. 2 amsteel whoopies from the ends of your hammock, where your ridgeline attaches, out to the sides to tree huggers. 4 total, pulling the hammocks apart. You would be able to adjust how far apart the hammocks hang by tightening the side whoopies. Dont know if this would work, but it sure sounds good!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder if TZB setup could be done with lash-it... I figure the tip end of the treking pole would be fairly easy but not sure about the grip end... Tip end would be two locked brummels, one to larks head to whoopie and the other set to slip over tip ot treking pole, can you do two locked end loops... On grip end maybe a locked brummel to attach to hammock whoopie and a small sliding loop to slip over grip and tighten...Grip design would come into play, don't see this working with grips TZB has but others that flair at the bottom of the grip to act as a stop may....HMMMM

I have thought of trying to make something from lash it.

But I need to think a bit about the cup, or cover for the grip end.

The cord would be plenty strong, but on soft handles may cut in.

On some of the harder handles a larks head on the grip, between the finger grooves, would probably work.

DONE....Made a set out of lash it...ended up with tip end set at around five inch overall length with 1/2"locked loop each end...grip end is a little longer again with 1/2" locked loop each end...larks head to suspension then larks head to trekking poles....hopefully will test tomorrow, should be plenty strong enough...

    Pics or it didn't happen

I want to try that also. Are your pole grips soft type?
