    Isle Royale

I have been searching and I have not prevailed in finding any "real information' on "hanging" on Isle Royale. Does anyone have any feedback
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

It can and has been done. I met a guy on my last trip who hiked the green stone with his Clark. There are a few sites that don't have very good trees but just hike another say 20' to another site in the same camp ground and you'll be able to hang. Now how many people can hang in a site I don't know about that. I think for a solo or a group of 2 hangers trees could be found. Hanging with more than that could be tricky in spots. Remember that you have to cam in the sites not around the sites.

I've been planning a trip for September and done a ton of research. You'll have no problem ! Have a blast and keep an eye out the local celebrities.

It definitely does...just about the people bit though...would like to be sure of the hammock issue

If I were doing a trip there I don't think I'd ask or they might say no hammocks.

They seem to allow hammocks. Just need to keep them in the established campsites. Availability of good trees is the only issue for larger groups. For the solo its not a problem but for more than that site selection is key.

Here's an older thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=5668 that shows some hangs and has limited info.

Isle Royale is on my last of places to get to in the next couple of years. I think my boy needs to get some experience before we go up there.

I'm looking at possibly starting a thread on Isle Royal after I get the N. Manitou under mybelt. It would have to either be at the first week or last week of Sept. Let us know what you find out.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.
