    Tarp (closed ends)

I've searched but didn't refine my keywords enough to actually find this post so:
I'm looking for the post/thread dealing with a 10x12 tarp that had the option to close the ends. I plan to do this addition to my homemade BlackCat but can't locate the information to get me headed in the right direction.

Thanks for your time and trouble.

I am getting shoved by the DIY skinflint in me. The special deal offered for the Supershelter at Hennessy was a Hex tarp. I already have one so that will make two. The hex tarp is my tarp of choice no matter what during the three season time. I also have a stock HH tarps which we all know and love as being a sneeze larger than it absolutely MUST be to do the job. So.... I am not sure if this is worth doing or not but here goes... I am thinking of cutting up the stock tarp and making doors for one of the two hex tarps thereby, effectively (at least in theory), giving me a winter tarp. The short side of the stock tarp is the right length for the edge of the hex tarp. Meaning I can get two ends out of one stock tarp. Cut up the middle from base to peak should, (again in theory) give me two doors on each end.

Has anybody done this? Surely this is not an original idea to me? Is it worth doing? Or are there significant problems I do not foresee?

    Edit
by rough estimate I would quess the the doors stretched out would manage 6' along the base of the end. How does that compare to other winter tarps?

The superfly referenced above has an 80" base. Would the 8" difference be a problem? Or would that be a personal desicion?

arg..... the base distance would be in the range of 72" but the grain of the door slit would be massively off kilter. The ridgeline of this tarp is very much on the bias which makes sense if you look at the tarp laid out flat. The ridgeline connects opposite corners. How would that affect the door's performance? Is anybody out there or is this idea just plain to weird for words. If there's another thread on this I'd love to see it but I can't find anything.

I sounds like a reasonable plan. I just can't remember how that fly is sewn together. I'd have to get mine out and see it laid out flat.

It is a one piece rectangle. Roughly 64" wide by whatever the length is... I think about 8'

    The ridgeline runs opposite corners.
The are no seams in the fabric

rev, that 80"# you got might be the distance between the hex tieouts along the ground rather than the length along the bottom of the door. since i have 2 overlapping doors on the sf, the actual distance from one side to the other isn't necessarily the length of the bottom of the big door.(i.e. the big door doesn't reach quite all the way across because the small door covers the remaining gap, so the total span is a little longer than the length across the bottom of the big door)
