    RL/Tarp line tensioner

Well, here's my take on a tarp RL tensioner. I've often wished my figure 9 had a cleat built into it, and after seeing Dutch's Tarp Flyz, I was inspired to make something that didn't rely on jamming the line into a groove to hold it. Its not nearly as high speed, low drag as Dutch's Flyz but I think they'll work. I don't have a scale sensitive enough to weigh it, so lets just say its very light.

    Good luck,

Nice Red, very nice. I was literally thinking of a type of DIY cleat this afternoon. Something like you would see in the nautical world but with the ability to be removed easily. The slit down the middle is a great solutions. Thanks for posting.

Red after you go around the tree could you wrap it the same way you did the first time then add some slipery half hitches? You seemed to wrap it differently after going around your post er tree.

Thanx SmokeBait. This was actually V 2.0, version 1 wasn't as simple AND it didn't didn't really work

Thanks Syb, I was thinking of using a small nylon cleat but my local marina didn't have any so I had to go down a different road.

Thats a great idea, I'll give that a try. Bad case of not seeing the forest for the trees, guess I was too focused on trying to use it as a cleat. Thanks for the idea.

I like it. Have a cuben fiber tarp on order that I wanted to use 1.75mm but didn't like the way that the figure nines held. Thanks, I'll make some this weekend.
