    JRB Triglides vs. cinch buckles

I am currently working on a Speer DIY gathered end hammock with 1" straps. Is the Triglide a simple light weight version version of a cinch buckle? It seems like the life support rated cinch buckles are steel and the Triglides are aluminum. Are they used exactly the same way? Are they both used with a fixed attachment point on the hardware?
