    Ok Now It's Official

I've finally decided to scribe up the ol' intro thread...I've been lurking long enough Anyway, I'm a relatively new hanger from the lovely upper Midwest and am thoroughly impressed with this forum. Extremely informative and most welcoming; two very respectable and increasingly rare traits in today's forums.

Initial hammock camping experiences (with a Brazilian style cotton hammock - please don't laugh too hard ) followed by well-deserved ridicule from HH hangers, prompted some research into lightweight hammocking a couple years ago. A more recent desire for overnighters in the kayak prompted further research, and I am finally taking action. I recently finished a DIY gathered-end, and have some suspension components on order from BWDD(thanks sclittlefield!!).

A big shoutout to Shug, Knotty, Ramblinrev, and GrizzlyAdams...your videos and tutorials really helped me realize DIY and hammocking were both within my ability. I don't see an end to my desire for hammocking ingenuity and gear creation, and that's clearly a good thing...right? I would be remiss if I didn't also thank the moderators for their hard work, and everyone else for their contributions and awesomeness! Thanks for having yet another noob!
