    How long does it take to stop bleeding, or does it ever stop? Also, would it be a good idea to soak it in water a time or two before working with it to keep it from bleeding?

    Amsteel blue has a Samthane coating on it. The coating improves the ropes abrasion resistance, handling, etc. I don't think coating will dissolve off in water and you want it to remain on the rope to do its job. When you do splicing, some rubs off on your hands. No biggie.
