Yea, I wanted to do similar to that in the Jeep Cherokee, but it's just too short, I think about 2' shorter than the Surburban.

That is a GREAT set up, everyone here understands & the rest don't matter.

Neato! Are you passing the suspension through the seal in the doors and then putting a stopper (rod, bracket, whatever) on the outside to keep the line from pulling through or are you actually tied to the passenger assist handle?

I'm using the passenger assist handle. Before tying on it, I hung on it like a monkey. Bounced, twisted, jerked and pulled. When I do the billet handle, It will also have a backer plate that the bolts will thread in to. I didn't want to go through the door and risk ruining the seals. It holds well. Even with bouncing around in the hammock. I trust it completely.

I will definitely post pics here of the new machine work.

Cool. Would never have expected that handle to be so strongly constructed.

I was thinking great setup for relief driving- get some good sleep, instead of short dozes in the passenger seat..
KM (who does a 24 hr trip once or twice a year)
but does not have a suburban to try this in..also all the cargo space would be full...

I kinda wish I didn't have the short bed on my Tundra. The bed is only about 6.5' long, else I could do that with a truck-bed hammock stand. Would be great for some of my cross country treks!
