some ppl think it's better ...some don't... TP is one area i don't agree with other UL hikers on...i like my TP and will not go without it.... i don't mind that extra oz at all besides it's like fuel it will get used up and you will have less to carry out with you

I agree, I don't see not having my TP. Tried the other way ONCE.

Very good reading all... On the TP, why is the blue shop towel better? Is it because you can use one square per wipe?

There thicker, and yes you can get at least 2 wipes out of them. Plus I just like them better. Its what works for me, and it gets me thinking real hard about what I am going to need. Not throw in another roll of TP just in case, mentality.

I don't use that much TP anyway, I don't seem to go as much when I'm backpacking. Wow, way too much info.

Thanks for heads up on titanium shepard hook stakes , we have rocky soil here . I am going to focus on tarp and pack for now and that will immediatly drop 3 1/2 lbs .

I would change out the pack as one of the last things. Heavier pack, light load, no problem. Light pack overloaded, miserable
