The best tip I can give you is don't watch Swiss Family Robinson before a trip, I made that mistake once when I was about 12 and went camping the next day, I hung my hammock about 10 feet up in the middle of an oak tree. Everything was fine until I woke up the next morning and forgot I wasn't waist high off the ground, luckily there was a large limb below me.
